Would you like a part-time role supporting ex-offenders to rehabilitate, working for a family-friendly charity?
This role offers 25 hours a week, with a generous pro-rata holiday allowance of 20 days plus bank holidays (30 days for full-time). It’s an excellent option for those with childcare responsibilities, allowing flexibility for school drop-off and pick-up times. Comprehensive training and support will be provided to help you succeed in this role.
Based in the Redfern Building (Hanover St) in central Manchester, the role focuses on supporting ex-offenders affected by trauma that impacts their daily lives. Participants might have experienced challenges such as being in care or facing racial discrimination.
You will manage a caseload of 20 clients, 95% of whom are men. The key aspect of this role is delivering tailored one-to-one interventions using pre-designed programmes. These programmes, presented through booklets, cover topics such as confidence, communication, anger management in relationships, managing change, parenting, and resettlement. For areas outside your expertise, you’ll signpost clients to specialist support providers or charities.
A typical day involves 3–4 one-to-one sessions, each lasting approximately 1.5 hours, with a significant focus on administrative tasks. You will undergo a thorough induction process and be supported by a friendly and enthusiastic team.
About you:
The charity is seeking individuals with direct experience supporting vulnerable clients, particularly in achieving goals like those outlined in this role.
You may have worked or volunteered in roles that helped people become independent, access support, find employment, or address needs related to education, mental health, or substance misuse:
A recent graduate with a relevant degree (such as criminology) and some volunteer experience, looking to take your first career step.
An experienced professional seeking a part-time role, with previous experience as a support worker, resettlement worker, probation officer, prison officer, housing officer, hostel worker, or mental health support worker.
